Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecommunication index, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (down 4.78%), Optiemus Infracom Ltd (down 1.59%),Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Ltd (down 1.47%),Vodafone Idea Ltd (down 1.37%),Indus Towers Ltd (down 1.26%), were the top losers. Among the other losers were HFCL Ltd (down 1.21%), Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 0.97%), GTL Infrastructure Ltd (down 0.88%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 0.7%), and Railtel Corporation of India Ltd (down 0.7%).

On the other hand, Vindhya Telelinks Ltd (up 0.23%), and Tejas Networks Ltd (up 0.04%) turned up.

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 361.97 or 0.53% at 69227.09.

The Nifty 50 index was up 132.2 points or 0.64% at 20819.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 43.82 points or 0.11% at 41094.83.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 0.59 points or 0% at 12168.09.

On BSE,1763 shares were trading in green, 1947 were trading in red and 127 were unchanged.
